Hospital Tour and Oktoberfest

We went and toured the labor and delivery section of the hospital today. Wow, things have definitely changed in the last 12 years as far as the patient's wishes. The labor/delivery room had a flat screen t.v., dvd player, a jacuzzi tub, and some other things that I would never have imagined in it. When I had Chance I remember the room only having a t.v. and that was about as elaborate as it got. The post partum rooms are pretty simple, t.v. bathroom, etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary, although they have futons that allow the SO's to sleep in the room with the Mom's. They allow up to four people in the room with you when you're laboring, including small children. Again, 12 years ago, only children older than 13 were allowed to be in the room and the SO's weren't allowed to stay overnight. It sounds like they really take the time to pamper the new Mom's during their stay. The Mom's even get to have a massage after delivery, if their Dr. writes up a request. How cool is that??

We pre-registered today, this will eliminate some of the paperwork that we have to fill out on our delivery day. We can have the baby stay with us the entire time instead of having her in the nursery. The security measures they have in place at the nursery are amazing, there is a sensor on the babies id tags that will literally set off an alarm if it's removed or if the baby is near an exit. You have to get buzzed in to even enter the nursery and again you have to have the same id bracelet as the baby's. It seemed very high tech and very safe. But Michael and I both decided we would rather be more comfortable with her in the room with us the entire time. I keep hearing about birth plans needing to be written up. Neither one of us have ever used one, so we are debating whether to write one up or not. I guess that will be a question we ask our Dr. at Tuesday's appointment.

On another note, we went to the Oktoberfest today in Greeley. We listened to polka music and walked around some. I had to have a kraut burger, Michael had to get his beer, and Caela got a henna tattoo on her arm of a heart so we all were happy. There weren't as many booths as last year, but it was still a lot of fun. It was a nice day, not too hot. We spent at least two hours there, which made me happy, I got out of the house for awhile and didn't even have a lot of contractions considering we walked around.

So that in a nutshell is what we did this beautiful, sunny, Saturday afternoon. Sunday, my SIL Steph and the kids are coming down to visit. I know that she will be bringing more baby clothes with her. We received about 11 outfits from Michael's sister Tonya this week, thankfully, all of them were six months and older. The baby will be set for clothing for at least the first six months for sure.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Hey Girl, Sounds like you had a good weekend. It also sounds like you are ready to start the countdown. I wanna know, did you do the Polka?

Been trying to work on a project, but it hasn't worked out like I had hoped. BUT, I don't give up easily. Hope to chat soon!
Love ya!

Wow- niiice place you'll be birthing the wee one. I'd wish you a quick delivery, but maybe you'd want to drag it out it's so nice there. hee hee. ;) Glad you're happy with it. I didn't do a birth plan either even though I had heard all about it. My dr. didn't even deliver Jack.. hmph. Anyhow...

Oktoberfest. mmm... did someone say beer? :) Glad to hear you were all able to find something to make you happy.
