Chunky Monkey

Woo HOO!!! Marisa has been eating like a piggy. She reached the goal her pediatrician had of gaining back her birth weight. We took her to the lactation consultant on Wednesday after her second PKU test and she weighed in at 6 lbs 5.3 ozs. I took her back again today, since I stopped giving her the formula supplement on Wednesday afternoon, to make sure that she was getting enough from me and she weighed in at 6 lbs , 8 ozs., so she is definitely getting what she needs.

We're still running on little to no sleep, I think Michael is getting more than I am since he doesn't have to wake up and whip his boob out to feed her, but he wakes up to change her diaper, so he is feeling the pain also. For the last four days she has been cluster feeding from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., yep, every hour on the hour she is up and smacking her lips waiting for her snack. The lactation nurse said this is normal, just that she is a little late on the time, usually, babies cluster from 7 or 8 p.m. to midnight. Figures my girl would do things to the beat of her own drum.

She's been using her lungs a heck of a lot more the last few days. Man, she is impatient and such a drama queen already. These characteristics are all from Michael's side of the gene pool of course! lol I've joking called her Pissy Missy when she gets one of her spells. I think this nickname is better than the one Michael uses, he calls her stinky butt.

He and I took her for a walk in the park on Thursday, we thought we'd better enjoy the last few days of sunshine before it gets to cold to walk her around. I can't believe that he only has one more week left before he has to go back to work. I don't remember if I told you all that he took three weeks off to help me recuperate. It's a good thing he did or else I would be toast right about now. He has been the soccer Mom for the last two weeks, taking Caela to and from school and dance.

I might try to do a photo shoot of her sometime next week. I have a few ideas that I want to try out, I just need to get some flowers and white fluffy fabric. Hopefully, Marisa won't have a model's temperament when things get under way.

Tell Pissy Missy thank you for allowing you time to give us an update. I'm glad M is there to give you a hand.

Did you get your box yet? I didn't mail it, I had chrissy drop it off for me. So I'm a little worried about it's arrival.

HUGS!

HI Sis,
Glad to hear everything goes so well with your little Pissy Missy (roflol about that nickname). Give Michael a big hug for being the "kraamverpleegster". It is great to have some extra help around the house and yes, you need time to recupperate (?sp).
Over here it is the same thing in the night. I feed (my boobs) and Marcel does the nappy thing, unless he has to get up real early for work. Fortunately Julia does sleep during the whole night this last couple of weeks (about 2 now). So I get my rest. The last boob I feed around midnight and then we sleep till 6 /7 or 8 am. From time to time she clusters too, but not always.
I want to see more pictures of my little cyberniece.

Anita, you have to tell me what size Marisa has (US size or European, even better), since I am planning to create her some cute pants to wear from babycord. I am totally into sewing these days (look at my creations at my blog).

Hugs to my US family over there.
love ya,
Petra and the rest of your Dutch family

Sounds like things are going pretty well even if you're not getting any sleep. I'm still waiting for a good nights sleep and Jack is 4 now. ha ha. That's so awesome that M took time off to help out. Good guy!

Pissy Missy.... ah, what a nickname already! ha ha.

Looking forward to seeing photos from your photo shoot. :)
