Meteor Showers and Other Things

The girl and I tried to stay awake until 1:30 a.m. on Monday night to watch the Perseid Meteor shower. We made it to 12:45 and then I had to go to sleep. We saw a handful of the meteorites, but not nearly the amount we did when we first started watching them eight years ago. Petra these are the same ones we watched last summer when you were visiting, although, there were a few more visible this year than last.

We registered Caela for school and dance on Tuesday, I was surprised that we didn't have to spend a million dollars on school fees like last year. Could be that I threatened the girl with serious bodily damage if she lost/tore up the books that I bought last year, which are to be used throughout the four years of high school. It's always a pleasure to see her follow directions. lol She made the Ballet Co. again this year, it will be her third year participating. Sadly, there are only six kids that tried out, so it's a dramatic change from the last few years, but I think they will all do just as well as a small group. I am curious as to what pieces they will perform, considering the Carnival of the Animals have quite a few positions to fill. She starts practices on Sept 6, so this gives us a few more weeks to get into the groove of things.

I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that she will be in the 9th grade and that she will be turning 15 in two weeks! Holy Cow where has the time gone. We're still trying to decide what to do for her birthday, we had a BBQ last year, but I think we will just invite a few people and go out to dinner instead. Next year, we will make a big production of her 16th birthday. She hasn't told me what she wants regarding presents yet, so I need to get on her about it. Usually, she doesn't ask for a whole lot, and nothing outrageously expensive, so I try to get her what she desperately wants, within reason.

There is going to be a Scrap/Stamp Expo in Loveland this weekend. Caela and I have all Saturday morning earmarked to go to it. Last year was the first year we went to it, I remember showing restraint in my purchases too, so let's see if I can do the same this year.

There is also Pet's Day at the swimming pool. We took Wheelie the weenie dog one year, before he married Maddie, he had on little swim trunks and everything. I remember he was having trouble and almost drowned cause he had too much junk in his trunk and these little tiny legs. Caela was in with him, so she saved him, but it was kind of funny watching him try to swim. We might take them Sunday, but I guess it's supposed to be in the high 60's low 70's. My dachsies aren't crazy about excessive heat or bone chilling cold, so we'll see.
