Sucky House!!

We had a ginormous rain storm on Wednesday night. Normally, I would enjoy the much needed moisture, but what we ended up getting was crazy. 1-2 inches in 30 minutes, with the storm stalling for a good hour. I think we ended up with 2-3 inches in an hour. Suffice it to say, I think my house was built by a group of monkeys, who were too busy scratching their butts to pay attention to details, as there are endless problems with flooding during torrential storms. There it is 7:30ish p.m and I'm getting ready to lie down and prop my feet up after spending most of the morning helping the girl pull the carpet out of my bedroom. Next thing I know, I look out my window and the rain literally looks as though someone is standing on my roof, pouring buckets of water over the side. I take a closer look and the damn rain gutter is pulled away from the roof, therefore, all of the water is going straight down into the window well.

I yelled for DD to run downstairs to see if it was flooding and she comes running back telling me that 1/4 of the well is full of water and it's spewing out of the screw holes and the window sill. She had buckets and plastic containers maneuvered all over to catch the water, but the floor still ended up flooded. I frantically called Michael to bring his wet vac over and we spent an hour trying to suck up the water. At around 9:30 I said screw it, I'll just deal with it in the morning.

DD and I spent all day Thursday taking things out of wet boxes, and drying up the floor. We still have some work to do tomorrow and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there won't be any more huge rain storms until after I get my rain gutters fixed.

At this point, I am so ready to just walk away from this freaking house and not even look back. On top of all this, I think those damn b/w spiders made a home in my basement too.

I don't wanna play anymore!!:(

Rain? What's THAT? Oh man, that is sucky you've been dealing with that! I hope it's all contained now, stopped raining, and you're now resting.

Sorry to hear about your flooding... we've had rain every day, the people who live on the mountain were literally cut off from the rest of civilization, the main road was washed out.... what a mess....

good luck with drying out...

Oh, I try to coexist with the spiders in my house, as long as they're not visable. If I see one, it's smashed! (eeewwww!)

Hugs!

O my goodness, that is awefull. Hope things will be fixed pretty soon and that your house is kept dry the next rainshower.

I know from experience the trouble with leakage in the house.

OMG, I can imagine how frantic this must have been. When THE hurricane hit us, we had a similar situation. Not nearly as bad, but I know how much of a headache the clean up is. I wish I could be there to do your work for you. Then you could sit in your royal chair and wave your silly little wand at me. But all I can do from here is be your jester, in hopes that you will get a little giggle, in the midst of your frustration.

BIG HUGS!!!!
